Applications are now open for Training Contracts. We have 5 positions commencing in September 2009 and 8 positions commencing in September 2010.

How our application process works

All application forms received are screened personally by our Graduate Recruitment panel which consists of both members of Human Resources and experienced fee earners. If your application meets our initial criteria you will be invited to sit a verbal reasoning test online. Candidates who are successful at this stage will then be asked to attend one of our Open Days that are being held on Monday 18 and Thursday 21 August. If you are unable to attend on one of these dates then we regret that we will be unable to consider your application further.

We believe that it is just as important for you to get to know us as it is for us to get to know you. The morning of the Open Day is therefore structured as follows:

  • after registration you will hear from our Senior Partner who will tell you a bit about the firm and how the business is run;
  • the firm’s HR Director will then talk to you about your two-year training contract, what we expect you to achieve and how we will support you;
  • you will be asked to complete a straightforward critical reasoning test;
  • the morning concludes with a buffet lunch during which you will have the opportunity to meet with a number of partners

During the afternoon you will be divided into groups for the following:

  • a group exercise;
  • an interview with two members of the graduate recruitment panel;
  • an informal session with some of our current trainees when you will be able to question them on their experiences at Davies Arnold Cooper.

Finally, we will invite a number of you to return for a second interview with a Partner and a member of the graduate recruitment panel. Prior to this interview you will need to complete an occupational personality questionnaire online. When you come to the office for the interview you will be asked to re-sit the verbal reasoning test under controlled conditions. Offers will be made by Friday 19 September.

Constructive feedback is offered to those candidates who are unsuccessful following both the assessment day and second interview stages.
